Pretty much any of the donor/sponsor commands, /home, etc. made it not vanilla. So it pretty much hasn't been vanilla in... well, ever.

You're thinking of "No Frills" i.e. the barest minimal Minecraft_Server.exe and nothing else. You can have a little more than that and still be "Vanilla".

i agree its impossible to have a bare vanilla server. imo "vanilla" means no free items or cuboids, ect.

The term 'vanilla' is often used to describe the original version of a game, that has not been modified with third-party addons, nor developer updates. It can also refer to the original game engine when source ports or expansion packs are available.

From wikipedia.

I like to think of vanilla as the original game as the developer intended for it to be. Updates the developer has put out don't take that status away.

"Vanillaish" could be considered some slight modifications to make it more stable, run smoother; basic optimization and stability.

A far stretch would encompass security and well-being of the community. Anti-grief measures, block-logging, and other moderation tools that do not affect game play or structure.

MC, Super pickaxes, magic Compasses, /tp, /money, /warp, Deathchests are not "Vanilla-ish" in any way.

I'm sorry but I think Vanilla(ish) went to hell on this server the second we put in the iConomy.

There's literally no reason to not use all these plug-ins now. iConomy is about as far from Vanilla as you can get, so putting stuff that's in between like this which actually contribute something positive to the server is fine by me.

Vanilla discussion aside, Lunar adds plugins based on benefits, impact on server performance, and impact on the community.

Anyhoo, this plugin doesn't seem to work with bukkit as far as I can see. Razz
